When lunch came around, he collapsed in the middle of the board room. There was a silence of a few nanoseconds where everybody had to take in what had just happened. Not before long, somebody started screaming, “Help! We need to help him now!” with a vibration and a bit of fear in her voice of what had just happened before her eyes on a Tuesday morning. “We need assistance here; Joe just collapsed because of a heart attack”.
Meet Joe. Joe is a hard-charging, so-called ‘type-A’ CEO who is healthily obsessed with making money and impacting the world with his unique passion for tech. Joe runs one of the biggest B2B companies in the SaaS space, helping tech start-ups grow.
Joe always wanted to be the best in everything he does, and he succeeded in it; he has two beautiful kids, one boy and one girl, an astonishing wife named Amanda and an 8-figure software business with a team of 26 people. Joe always had felt that he needed to accomplish the best version of himself, to serve his successful business and great family. So he had the vision to be awarded by Forbes Next to make an impact on other entrepreneurs that it was possible.
But then it happened; He collapsed in the board room of his tech business with his fellow executives on a Tuesday morning after having kissed his kids goodbye at school because of a heart attack. Joe wanted to get the most out of his business and life. But the event on this Tuesday morning happened because of one flaw in his thinking; if he wasn’t feeling sick, he had to be healthy.
Many entrepreneurs, including me (Jorn) myself, have to make sacrifices to become the best versions of ourselves. We have to be unbalanced at certain times throughout our lives to get the most out of it. But there was one thing holding Joe back from his success as a father and CEO he wanted to have; his vitality, spirit and energy.
Many of us, including me in the past, see health and fitness as something we have to do and get to later. But what if we could make a mindset change to the following; we can use our health as a performance indicator. Health is boring; performing at your peak daily in 0 minutes of your time because of optimised systems in your lifestyle is exciting.
Joe had trouble sleeping because he believed that sleep is a waste of time, and you do when you’re on your deathbed. He also didn’t notice what he put into his body and when to keep focused on his business and family. Some colleges argued that he could check private trainers or maybe even build his gym in the office. But Joe felt it wasn’t all that necessary and would cost much time he could spend with his family and business.
I also believe, just like Joe, it’s a waste of time to spend unnecessary hours in the gym, cooking, grocery shopping, and optimising your focus.
That’s where peak performance comes in;
“Thank god he’s hearth is working again!”. The nurse was looking at a red-lined graph in a cold room with no one saying a word and only hearing a monotone sound. “He’s alive!” He screamed with happiness in his eyes of doing his duty as a doctor.
Amanda, Joe’s wife, was impatiently waiting in the room with the boy and the girl and was already negotiating with her self-doubt that Joe would make it; should her kids have to grow up without a father because he didn’t focus on his health? So already had the feeling that Joe didn’t take responsibility for focusing on his fitness. Luckily for her, the nurse came outside the room with the good news; “Joe is alive”.
After this happened, Joe had the insight that things needed to change. So he started looking for a fitness coach to improve his health and get back as soon as possible. Luckily for Joe, he came across our article on why fitness coaching won’t work for entrepreneurs and decided he wanted to improve his health and performance for the better.
In only a week of working on his performance, he was shocked;
- His energy was throughout the roof
- He felt content and happy all the time
- He had such clarity in work that he had more time for Amanda and his kids
- He even started to become curious about how this all works
And the most crucial thing; was that it didn’t cost him any crazy amount of time. So why is this the case?
He already slept and ate, but with the peak performance cure he implemented, he did it ten times more efficient.
As a result, Joe is the father and husband he wanted to be, has had an incredible amount of growth in his tech business and most important of all, he felt that he could make the impact he wanted to make.
The above is our mission with Peakclub; to help type-A entrepreneurs such as Joe make the impact they want with their businesses and family without all the ‘woo-woo’ stuff some people preach in the health niche. But instead, look for concrete action points based on data that Joe has to implement to transform his energy, productivity and vitality without spending hours of his valuable time.
I hope this gave you an inside. Check our other videos and articles for more.
